Alright, Everyone. It has been a bit of time since I last updated the blog portion of this site but suffice to say that it has been a busy few months. I have been deep into the preproduction for the new solo record, rehearsing for some really cool live opportunities and doing other non-music related things that adults are wont to do.

I finally got my DIY studio set up and really dialed in. New interface, new condenser mic, new chair, new Gamecube (for relaxing between takes), guitars back from the guitar doctors and various other little things. It has come together nicely and I couldn’t be happier about it. I am really excited to get some of these new tunes out into the world but I want to give them their time in the studio before they get out to you all. I will be posting some snippets from my session this weekend so stay tuned to the various social media settings for that one.

Most recently, I was asked to play a gig at Wooly’s with Des Moines guitar wizard and all around awesome guy, James Biehn and his band. I was humbled and honored to be asked to join him and his band for their set opening up for Bonne Finken. It became a rather all consuming thing, what with learning all the tunes off his new album and a few covers to make everything happen. I was rehearsing/practicing/listening for hours every night after my day time commitments ended and engrossed in getting the nuance of the tunes and arrangements worked out. After a couple weeks of work the day came and the show went off really well. As I am my worst critic there were things I would have changed but on the whole it was a really great experience. I am looking forward to sharing the stage with James and his crew again (look for a possible date in July!!!)

So there you have it, folks. I am going to be writing some new tunes, recording some old ones (and new ones) and expanding the repertoire for solo acoustic and more electric band oriented material over the next few months. I will be playing here in the Des Moines area on June 11th at Tonic (Downtown), June 23rd at The Greenwood Lounge and June 25th at Saints Waukee. I have a pair of shows coming up during the “Days Between” in August so stay tuned for some special news on those in the near future (special guests and fun things).  In the meantime, stay tuned in to the internets and keep on truckin!
